What kind of story files can I upload?

Are there any formatting requirements for stories?

You must have a blank line separating paragraphs. Indenting paragraphs with tabs or multiple spaces will not work.

Please include the title and author's name at the top of your story. It is preferred that you also include things like the rating, category, genres, warnings and spoilers (which are required for fanfics with Season 9 and 10 spoilers). The reason for including this info is that, if the information in the database is ever lost, we will have all the information we need to re-enter your story in the archive by using the text file that is created for each fanfic. If something like that ever happened, and we did not have at least the title and the author's name in that text file, we could not re-archive the story.

Will my bolded fonts, italics, underlines and font sizes remain when I convert the file to plain text?

No. "Plain text" means just that, plain text without any special properties. If your story has any kind of text formatting, such as italics, either follow the instructions below or save the file as an html document and upload that. All of your italics, underlines and bolded fonts will be converted correctly. Font size changes, however, will not show up when the story is archived. Neither will font color or type changes.

How do I add things like italics and bolded fonts to a plain text file?

Type at the beginning of the text you want in italics and at the end. To bold text, type at the beginning, at the end. For an underline, it's and . Do this before you upload the file, and the text will automatically be formatted in your story once it's uploaded.

What are the story classifications?

Stories are classified by categories, genres and warnings.
